Aaron McKethan, PhD

Throughout his career, Aaron has focused on using data and policy to improve performance of the US health system.
Most recently, he served as Chief Data & Analytics Officer for the NC Department of Health and Human Services. Previously, he was co-founder of RxAnte, a successful analytics and clinical services company. He led large-scale, tech-enabled health improvement demonstrations at the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC), and he was Research Director at the Brookings Institution. Aaron holds BA and PhD degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Aaron is on an adjunct faculty member at both the Duke University School of Medicine and the Gillings School of Public Health at UNC Chapel Hill. Some of Aaron’s work has appeared in such publications as the Journal of the American Medical Association, the New England Journal of Medicine, and Health Affairs. He serves on a number of boards and committees, including the Health Care Cost Institute, Fostering Families, and the public health committee of the NC Human Trafficking Commission.
